Match the flooring to the rest of your room

How to choose the right colour flooring for your room depends on a variety of different factors, some more significant than others. It all comes down to personal taste and whether or not you can live with bold and brassy colours or if more subtle and natural tones are more your thing. The first thing you need to decide on is what material you want on your floor or rule out anything you absolutely don’t want. If you have a very large room then you might consider a more economical choice but if the space is small, then you could choose something a little more extravagant. Once you have decided on the type of flooring you want you need to decide what colours go well together and which ones don’t. If you have a large room then you could choose something bold and bright, perhaps using red or a deep burgundy. Whereas in a smaller space things can be quite subdued so you could stick to a more neutral and plain colour, for example cream or beige to make the space appear larger. Another important factor is to consider the style of the house and what period it is. All rooms look great with a classic contemporary feel even if it is an older property.

If you are unsure then it is best to go for one colour that you know is going to complement your room well. Although you should remember that some colours clash and you could end up having too much of one colour in one area and not enough in another.
