While we would prefer to spend time renovating and decorating our homes, it is important to think about safety before anything else. A beautiful home will not feel welcome and relaxed once you know thieves have been through it! So you can get back to the fun stuff and still feel safe, here are some tips to make your home safe:

Think about the doors

More than a third of thieves were able to just stroll right into a property. Check your exterior door to see if the frame is still strong, the hinges are in good order and that the letterbox does not allow someone to reach inside and unlock the door. If you find any weaknesses, consider installing a dead bolt, smart lock and security camera. Don’t overlook the security of your garage door too. Window locks

The most common entry point for thieves is the doors and windows. The locks provided by the manufacturer are not always the most effective, so you can toughen security with additional ones. Other steps you can take include strengthening the windows with security film, glass break sensors and installing window bars, for example.

Consider a security system

Depending on your budget, there are many options available, from full home automation systems to DIY options. Consider a system that covers your needs and your environment. There may be a monthly fee to consider if you choose the monitored system that alerts the police. At the very least, you should consider installing security cameras in the front and rear of your property.
