Safety Wear on a Building Site

There are lots of safety requirements when you work on a building site, as there are a lot more hazards than there are in a workplace like an office for example.

Aswell as things like safety courses, such as this IPAF course globalflt.com/services/ipaf/ it is important to ensure that you are wearing the correct protective equipment.

Here are some of the things that should be worn on a building site…

Head Protection – When you work in a construction environment, there is certainly going to be a lot of work being done at a height, and this means that there is a risk of objects falling onto you. Things that fall from a height onto your head could be deadly, so it is crucial that you ensure you have a hard hat to protect your head.

Hearing Protection – Exposing your ears to noises over 85 decibels on a regular basis is extremely harmful to them and can cause hearing loss long term. On a construction site there are often noises that exceed this and if you are using tools and machines that are making noises louder than 85 decibels or working in an environment with a loud volume, then it is important that you use earplugs or over the head ear defenders.

Hi Visibility Clothing – When you are working on a construction site there are lots of machines moving around that could pose a risk to you. Being seen is very important, and if the weather is poor or the light is bad, this can make it more risky for you. Wearing clothing that is hi vis means that you can easily be spotted and there is less likelihood of an accident happening.
